Oh how I adore this family and have been so anxious to take their family portraits. Kelly DeHaan is the choir director for The Sterling Singers, a choir that I am SO BLESSED to sing with. You may also recognize Kelly from many Hale Centre Theatre productions. He is a man of MANY talents....a musical and acting genius. Being a part of The Sterling Singers has provided so much comfort and healing for me. And this man....is a living ANGEL on earth. What an amazing man of overwhelming strength, passion, faith...and ridiculous talent. I love so much about Kelly. But one of the things that I love and truly admire the most, is his unfailing love for his beautiful wife Shellie. He absolutely ADORES HER...and it is apparent to ANYONE who sees them. I ache for the pure and selfless love that they have for each other. It is SUCH an amazing thing. Their love is so thick you can feel it. Pure awesomeness. Anyway...I could go on about this crazy awesome family all day....but I will refrain. What fun it was to spend the afternoon with such a great family that I respect and love so much.

And as is usually the case, I had THE hardest time choosing ONLY A FEW to edit. There were SO many great shots.....I couldn't help but edit FAR more than just a handful. :-)









With the great opportunity I had to shoot a family with THIS much talent and character, I couldn't resist  demanding a little "play time" during our shoot. Love these next few shots....so much fun!




And as is tradition for every White House Photography shoot, we simply had to have a few smooching shots. And believe me....Kelly and Shellie had NO problem with this. :-) Jokes aside...it was a beautiful thing...almost as if I had disappeared and they were simply having a moment and being IN LOVE...and I was honored enough to witness it. Sometimes with couples that have been married a long time, they take a little coaxing and the passion has gone a little stale. Not with these two. Their "fire" was as bright and as passionate as ever. Oh my heart...I want love that like. Love these shots, where you can TRULY SEE the love they have for each other. Awesome.



I noticed something that was unique to this shoot, when I was taking these beautiful pictures. Generally, when I get Mom and Dad to be all "romantic," the kids think it's gross and usually are very vocal about it....or run and hide. LOL! You'd think with FOUR BOYS, that is exactly the reaction you'd get. Not...a...word. You know what that says to me? This is NORMAL. This passion, this open expression of their love for each other is something that these boys are USED TO!!!! That makes me seriously just....overwhelmed. I love that. I'm not sure that would have stood out to me if it wasn't so unique. Love that these four boys are used to seeing their Mom and Dad be affectionate. THEY KNOW that their Dad loves their Mom....and vice versa. *sigh* Awesome.



This next pose is always one of my favorites...as cheesy as it is. This pose is called "Brought to you by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Isn't it about.....Time?" :-) Love it!

We had such a great time shooting at two beautiful locations and I am so pleased with how all of these shots turned out.


How grateful I am not only for the opportunity to shoot portraits of this good family, but to have the opportunity to rub shoulders with them on a regular basis. My life is so RICHLY blessed, simply by knowing them. This family, The Sterling Singers....both proof to me that God lives, loves me and knows me VERY personally. I have seen MIRACLES in my life as a result of this choir and this man. God is so very good. What a fun surprise to hear from this cute gal that I haven't seen in very likely over 15 years. I am fairly certain that the last time I saw Jessica, she was a young teenager. And before that, I was her babysitter. ;-) Crazy to see her grown up into this BREATHTAKINGLY beautiful woman, happily married and mama to one of THE cutest little guys.






Originally, we had planned on taking cute Jessica and her family up Little Cottonwood Canyon to catch the fall colors. However, after looking out the window at the beautiful grounds at my office (at the mouth of Little Cottonwood), I proposed to Jessica that we do there shoot right there. The grounds at Ivy Institute, Inc. are BREATHTAKING. I feel almost as if I work in HEAVEN (for more reasons than just the landscape.....but it truly is BEAUTIFUL there). And fortunately, we were able to do this shoot TWO DAYS before it snowed and took most of the leaves with it. Happy day! This little guy had a rough minute for a little while...but was happy as ever after we let him run around a bit, paid the chickens a visit and played in the leaves. :-)

Oh HAPPY DAY!!!!! SO thrilled that I was able to shoot one of my ALL TIME FAVORITE families this past week. So love my sweet Christy....my soul's twin.....and her ridiculously adorable family. Love them so much I could SCREAM! We had such a great time shooting with their sweet babies and ended up with SO MANY AMAZING shots. I am so pleased with the results of this shoot of 4 of my VERY FAVORITE people. Oooh...LOVE THEM SOOOOOO MUCH!!!!! And LOVE LOVE LOVE that Christy chose to rock these amazing fabulous red pants! HIT IT! Awesome!! Such a gorgeous fashion diva. LOVE IT!








Couldn't believe our good fortune when we found a section of this railroad car that actually said "GOOD TIMES" on it!!! HIT IT! Love that SO MUCH...and SO PERFECT for this CRAZY FUN FAMILY!!!!

What a great blessing this family is in my life. Love them beyond words. Oh how I love this cute Mama. I met and served with Mikki's sweet mom and dad, Kathy and John, during the Oquirrh Mountain Temple Youth Temple Celebration almost 3 years ago and served on their committee for Festival of Trees the past 3 years. This year, I am on the Executive Board for Festival of Trees with Kathy. They have become literally like parents to me....I love them so much. What a blessing to have them in my life...and also have all of their amazing kids in my life as well. Cute Mikki is one of them....LOVE HER! What a great opportunity to meet Mikki's husband and their beautiful family for the first time to take their family portraits last week. And OH....MY......GOODNESS....did we end up with a BAZILLION awesome shots! I  am SO EXCITED to post the proofs from this shoot!!!




Time to squish our cheeks to refresh our smiles! LOL!




I like to call this next one "Family: Isn't it about...time? From The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints." LOL! I love these "Mama and Daddy looking at all of their babies" shots....but they seriously remind me of those LDS Church commercials. So funny. LOVE this shot though!






This next shot had a little bit of a lens flare on it. Instead of getting rid of the flare, I decided to make the lens flare even BIGGER....and really kinda love how it turned out!!! SO FUN!!






This next shot is likely one of my VERY FAVORITES from this shoot! Oh my heart.....LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT IT...from the Mama and Daddy smooching, to little bud focusing right on me, to brother and sister interacting with each other...to the awesome contrasts, lines and patterns on this AMAZING backdrop. LOVE IT!!!!

In addition to family group shots, I also shot a bunch of individual portraits of these beautiful kids. I could not get enough. They are all SO ridiculously cute....especially this little dude. Are you for real???? Have you ever seen a more handsome little guy? And WHAT a sweet little poser. His smile was PERFECT for every single shot....goodNIGHT....a photographer's DREAM!!!! As you can see....I kinda took a FEW of him..LOL! Couldn't seem to get enough!!








For those of you who are unfamiliar with how my shoots generally work, I thought I would give a brief explanation. After your shoot, within a week or so, I will post a "sneak peek" of your shoot here on my photo blog. These are not the only images you have to choose from. The reason for these sneak peek proofs, is to give you a sampling of HOW your pictures can be edited. I generally post a VARIETY of edits (vintage, black & white, sepia, urban, bright color, etc.) to give you ideas. Then, you will receive a Proofing CD with SMALL COPYRIGHTED images of EVERY SHOT from your shoot. You will choose your OWN 10 images from those and then specify HOW you want each one edited, using my SAMPLE EDITS as a guide. You will then receive a CD of your 10 EDITED IMAGES in HIGH RESOLUTION FORMAT (for printing) and also each of your images in LOW RESOLUTION FORMAT (copyrighted images....for all online use). And then, you may print as many of your pictures as you'd like - they are ALL YOURS!!!! Easy, easy! And so...until the Smith family has a chance to review all of the shots from their shoot, I thought I would go ahead and choose a few of MY faves to edit and post as a little sneak peek. I use the term "a few" very loosely, since I obviously couldn't keep it to just a few. I think you will find that that is generally the case. I have never had anyone complain that they don't have enough pictures to choose from. In fact, a few times, I have heard comments in the opposite direction...that there are simply "far too many awesome ones to choose from." That's the way I like it. ;-) HAPPY DAY!

What a CRAZY AWESOME day we had shooting pictures at this GREAT location...on a PERFECT picture day! So fun to meet Mikki's beautiful family and spend the afternoon with them. I am SO RIDICULOUSLY PLEASED with how this shoot turned out. I couldn't get ENOUGH of the pics. I will usually try to just edit 10-15 shots for my SAMPLE EDITS. However, there are some shoots where I just can't  STOP! This was one of them!!!! GORGEOUS family...GORGEOUS location...FUN, FUN, FUN!!!

It's always fun to have the opportunity to meet up with some of our good friends and neighbors from the neighborhood where I moved from last year. We had lived there for almost 10 years before our divorce and made some pretty amazing friends there. This family happens to be some of those good friends...and our back door neighbors. My goodness, how this cute family has grown. It seems like they just barely had the one little one.....and now they are a family of SIX!!! So fun to spend the afternoon with this cute family....with these two new little babies!

Have you ever met someone and just known right away that you were meant to be friends? That's how it was with my friend Brandon. I loved this guy from the moment we met. He is such a great man...beyond even his own comprehension. What an awesome blessing to have him as a friend. So enjoyed being able to do a photo shoot of Brandon a few months ago and love how those shots turned out. However, I have to say, I was even more excited that he asked me a few weeks ago to do another shoot of him with his beautiful daughter Lexi. What a stunner Lexi is...an absolute angel with such a crazy cute personality. We had such a fun afternoon shooting these pictures....and I am so pleased with how they turned out.









Until Brandon has a chance to review all of the images from this shoot and choose the 10 images that he would like me to edit, I thought it would be fun to choose a few of MY faves to edit and post as a little sneak peek. As you may notice, I had a VERY challenging time keeping it to just "a few." My goodness....we ended up with SO MANY ridiculously classic/fun shots!!! I am so happy with how these turned out...and hope that Brandon is equally as pleased.















In between Father/Daughter shots, I also took a few of Lexi by herself. What a doll....I couldn't get enough of her. SUCH a breathtaking little beauty.



One thing I have always admired about Brandon in the short time we've known each other, is the very tight relationship between him and Lexi that is VERY apparent, just by watching them together. I love how playful they are. There is NO doubt in my mind of the love they have for each other and that Brandon is one amazing father. Love their bond...and their silliness. LOL!

As much as I truly love meeting new clients on a regular basis, I seriously love having the opportunity to do photo shoots for my own family and close friends. These happen to be four of my FAVORITE people to shoot...my 3 nephews and my niece. So love them. Not only are they ridiculously cute...but they are SO MUCH FUN! My sister and her hubby have done an AMAZING job raising these 4 kids....who are SO well-liked by EVERYONE..and SO...NICE. Love that. This time around, we decided to shoot at Daybreak...and couldn't have asked for a more beautiful picture day. :-)









Every time I have the opportunity to shoot pics of these awesome siblings, I get such a kick out of watching them. It is very apparent that my niece picks out HER three outfits FIRST (because we ALWAYS have at LEAST one to two wardrobe changes every shoot..lol..HIT IT!) and then picks out the boys' clothes to match her own. It's so cute to hear even her older brother say "Ok. What do you want me to wear now?" LOL! They are such good sports. But MAN, does she know what she is doing.....their ensembles always match perfectly and are so trendy and fun! Love that. She is one seriously awesome fashion diva.









It's always fun when I happen to have a little more time to spend on a shoot. We took 87 million shots. As you can see, I had a really tough time limiting their "sneak peek proofs" to just "a few." There were SO many that I loved!










As I'm posting these, I keep thinking that I am nearing the end of how many proofs I edited. LOL! Nnnope. Generally, I try and stick to between 10-15 for sample edits. I went slightly a little crazy on these. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THEM!


SO LOVE these next two shots of them laughing. My one nephew's big laugh is so amazing...classic. LOVE IT!!!! These make my heart happy. Love these kids so much!




After a while, I decided I was sick of the "usual poses" and wanted to play around a little bit. These kids are so CRAZY fun, they were up for just about anything...and playing around and pulling "vogue poses" came naturally to just about all of them, except the oldest. LOL! He was so funny...the 3 youngest were able to pull the most crazy awesome vogue poses without even CRACKING a smile...and the oldest brother was a hot mess and kept giggling. SO funny. Love that. Still, we managed to come up with some pretty AWESOME "playful shots" that most likely won't show up above the fireplace.....but will likely ironically be some of the most PRICELESS shots someday. SO RIDICULOUSLY FUN!!!!



The picture below made me laugh so hard. All of them grabbed a piece of wheat to put in their mouths and my nephew on the far left, without skipping a beat said, "I actually prefer to WEAR my wheat." LOL! Hit it! So funny.

This picture below is so funny to me. When my clients' smiles get a little stale, I generally have them relax and squish their cheeks. LOL! So funny that I caught this shot....hilarious. So here they all are, RELAXING their smiles by squishing their cheeks....and some dramatically so. So funny.
And now, for my two, all-time favorite shots. Oh my goodness...these are so classic. If it were me, these pics WOULD be enlarged and displayed somewhere. They make me laugh remembering the moment, but as funny as they are....I actually REALLY love them. Classic. AWWWWWWWWWWESOME!


Oh how I love these babies!!!! What a ridiculously fun time we had and it is so apparent just how much LOVE there is between them. LOVE THAT! Hard to believe that my sister is the mama to 4 teenagers...when I so distinctly remember holding the oldest when he was a chubby little toddler...like it was YESTERDAY. Goodness...how fast the time flies. Not a fan. But DEFINITELY a fan of these 4 amazing kids!

Oh, my heart. I have been so ridiculously anxious to edit the images from this shoot from the MOMENT I took them a few weeks ago, I could hardly STAND the wait while I got caught up on my other shoots. This has to be one of my all-time favorite sittings....of one of my all-time favorite High School Seniors. Ciera isn't like any other 17 year old girl I have ever met. She is most definitely a rare and fabulous "find." Ciera lives upstairs and we seriously hit it off almost the very day we met just over a year ago. LOVE HER!!!!




Ciera reminds me so much of myself when I was in college....she totally takes me back there and makes me feel YOUNG (not that I'm anywhere NEAR old, but you know what I mean. LOL!) She is the "CRAZY FUN CHICK" that is NICE to everyone..and the majority of her friends are guys. She is so confident, loves who she is and is so fun and carefree. She is not afraid to be CRAZY and PLAY, PLAY, PLAY...and doesn't care WHO is watching. SO love that about her!!



Those who know Ciera, will be SHOCKED (in a fabulous way) by these pictures. She is generally most comfortable with her hair flipped up, wearing her high school swim team hoody and some jeans she most likely snagged from one of her guy friends. The ridiculously AMAZING and breathtaking "natural model" you see here is NOT the "Ciera" that most are used to seeing. Ciera is most DEFINITELY a KNOCK-OUT. And get this....she is ONLY wearing mascara. That's it. No other make-up. She is every guy's DREAM....a gorgeous girl who can "let her hair down," can ride a mean longboard and do just about ANYTHING a guy can do...and possibly better than they can. What a BLAST we had on this shoot...mixing Ciera's very NATURAL glamour with her very prominant and FABULOUS "Tom-Boy" side. I mean seriously.....fire red heels with black lace on a longboard????? FREA-KING AWESOME!!!!!!! Steady boys... ;-)






Ciera has to have been one of the easiest subjects for me to shoot. She is SO outrageously photogenic and needs very little coaching. She and I get along so well, that it's very easy to catch some pretty awesome candids, since we are constantly laughing together. Love that...and love that I had a little extra time to really play with some new backdrops, poses, etc. and not feel as if we had to rush.






The moment I took this NEXT shot below, I reviewed it and immediately said, 'WHOA CIEC...this pic is WAY TOO HOT for a senior pic!" LOL! She is gorgeous...I can't stand it. Every shot was A-MA-ZING. This shot below has to be one of my MANY faves from the shoot...

Until Ciec has a chance to review all of the images from her shoot, I thought it would be fun to post a few of MY faves (that I OBVIOUSLY struggled KEEPING to "just a few") as a little sneak peek for her. I am OVER-THE-MOON thrilled with every single one of these proofs and hope that she feels the same!!

As amazing as the first half of our shoot was, I couldn't WAIT for the second half.....that was MUCH MORE fitting for the Ciera we all know and love. After these awesome shots above, Ciera changed into her comfortable jeans and a three-quarter length casual tee, snagged her longboard and we headed downtown to The Gateway FOUNTAINS! I can't believe how awesome our timing was. We arrived with about 5 minutes for me to get my cameras and lenses all set to go, test lighting, etc. and then the FOUNTAIN SHOW started. Love these few shots of Ciera playing in the fountains just before the actual show started.





When the actual water show started, the recording asked everyone to step out of the fountains. Um...we didn't. Oops. :-) It was PERFECT. With everyone out of the fountains, Ciera was the ONLY ONE in the water...AWESOME! To be honest, I didn't get a million fabulous shots DURING the water show, since there is a LOT of water. Holy crud. LOL! Half the time, she was SO completely covered by HUGE fountains of water, that I couldn't even see her. LOL! It was hilarious watching her simply PLAY....getting COMPLETELY DRENCHED and LOVING every minute of it. The spectators got a kick out of watching her. I almost wish I had had a shadow shooter to snap pictures of THEM watching her. LOL! Ciera is absolutely, utterly uninhibited. She didn't care that a TON of people were watching her...it's like they weren't even THERE. She played in that water like she was a five year old little girl. It was SO FREAKING AWESOME!!!!




Once the water died down a little bit, we whipped out the longboard for a few shots. We didn't want to ruin her board with the water, so we just snapped a couple quickly. Oh my gosh, it was hilarious. With her laying down on her board, she was REALLY REALLY REALLY close to where the fountains shot up! Over and over, she'd get smacked right in the face with a burst of water and just giggle. LOL! It was awesome. She was laughing and playing her heart out.


What I didn't notice until after I reviewed the pics, was how AWESOME it was that Ciera's SHIRT matched the wheels of her long board. LOL! LOVE THAT! What a seriously, amazingly fun shoot! So glad that Ciera had such a fun idea to hit the fountains for the second half of her shoot. Loved being able to catch the many sides of Ciera for her senior pictures. What a blast!!

Absolutely have to chalk this up as one of my VERY FAVORITE SHOOTS...EVER!!! I am so OUTRAGEOUSLY pleased with how these proofs turned out and can't WAIT to see what she thinks! What a great opportunity to take portraits for my friend Mekenzie and her cute little fam a few weeks ago. I am so blessed to be Mekenzie's visiting teacher and loved her from the minute we met. So enjoyed spending the afternoon with them on this PERFECT picture day.









Until the Wood fam has a chance to review all of the images from their shoot and choose the 10 pics that THEY would like me to edit for them, I thought it would be fun to choose a few of MY faves to edit and post as a little sneak peek for them.





As many of you already know, I have a thing with kissing. I love it...and I think couples should do FAR MORE of it. I especially love being able to get couples to smooch for pics that are not GENERALLY comfortable showing public displays of affection. It is my opinion that not only should couples kiss more in private...but they absoLUTEly should do more (tasteful) kissing in public to show the WORLD just how in love they are. SO fun to not only get this usually "shy-about-public-smooching" couple to kiss for a few shots, but even have FUN with it. LOL! Love the fun pic of them kissing with her hubby's leg wrapped around her. CLASSIC! LOVE IT! LOVE is AMAZING, and the world should SEE that there STILL IS SO MUCH LOVE out there!!! Love these shots!




So fun....those seriously make my heart happy!!!! :-) Love how all of these proofs turned out and hope that the Wood fam will love them as well! Pretty hard to go wrong with a family as cute as theirs. :-)
