This past Saturday night, the Primary in Chas' ward held a Daddy Daughter Date Night. Seneca talked about it all week long. The theme for the Date Night was "THE 50s!" Since the kids were with me with this weekend, we went through Seneca's clothes and found a simple (but pefect) outfit for her special night out with Daddy. The finishing touch was a scarf for her hair that I found at Ross this week. She felt so pretty in her new scarf, new converse tennies and rosey cheeks. :-)
After we got her all dolled up for her date night, we drove her to her Daddy's and took a few pics before they headed out. Many thanks to my friend Paige (who is serving in the Primary in Chas' ward) who sent me a few pictures.....a fun night full of good food, root beer floats and dancing. And even after having root beer floats, her Daddy took her out to ice cream. SUCH a fun night for my Baby Girl !! So grateful that she was able to have some fun one-on-one time with her Dad.
Since Seneca and her Daddy were having a date night, it was a PERFECT opportunity for Mama to have a date night with Kaden. Happy day! We were both so excited for some quality "Mama/Kaden" time.
Our date, however, was a little more casual. We threw on our hoodies and headed to Chuck-a-Rama....Kaden's choice. Kaden loves Chuck-a-Rama. Eating at the Chuck has been a Dahlquist family tradition (every Memorial Day) for as long as I can remember...and even BEFORE THEN. But I have to be honest....it's never been my favorite. That being said...they DO have yummy scones and squash...which is generally all I eat. LOL! We ended up waiting an HOUR to be seated. An hour. At Chuck-a-Rama. Hit it. I don't think I'd wait an hour for my favorite restaurant. But for my date with Kaden, I would have waited TWO if he had wanted to. We had a great time chatting in line...surprisingly enough, about the Presidential Race. Kaden amazes me. He is an information MAGNET. Due to my recent interest in politics, he too has taken an interest and asks me all sorts of questions. Even parents around us in line were looking at him in amazement as he talked about Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum. He is such a smart kid..and I have to admit...that was QUITE the "proud Mama" moment. :-)
Kaden and I had such a wonderful dinner and seriously great conversation. What a blessing to have those few hours to sit and REALLY get inside of my Kaden's head and heart. We do a little chat every night to see how our hearts are feeling....but having a few HOURS was especially wonderful. What an angel he is...and a blessing in my life.
Overall, DATE NIGHT was a raging success....Baby dancing it up with her Daddy...and Kaden and Mama going out to dinner and talking "school, sports, Power Rangers, friends, favorites and even politics." Oh how I love my sweet babies...and cherish every single moment I have with them. What a blessing for BOTH Chas and I to have a little one-on-one time with our kids this weekend.

Heather, it is SO great the relationship you have with Chas .. your kids will be always be thankful for it! I applaud you guys for being upstanding/great parents!!!

I love Chuck-a-rama! Have to go to one whenever I go to Utah with my dad (which is rare). Sure wish we were lucky enough to have that chain up here! lol
