There are so many things that I love about my family. But I think one of the things that I love the most, is how much my Dad and sweet Mama love TRADITIONS! We have more traditions than just about any family I know. And I love every...single...one. Where the majority of little ones around the world look forward to Santa Claus arriving, the little ones in OUR family have a few MORE visitors to look forward to throughout the holiday season. Niklaus, the German Santa Claus, is one of our favorites...and just HAPPENED to stop by last night to fill the shoes of the little ones here at the White House. In our immediate family, Niklaus generally only fills the shoes of children. However, Jeff stopped by last night to visit for a little bit and Niklaus must have gotten confused by the extra pair of shoes left on the stairs....because he paid Jeff a visit as well. I'm so impressed that he just happened to know that Jeff was in serious need of knives, salt & pepper and a vegetable peeler. Niklaus is SO on top of it. (LOL!) ;-) (Anyone else, who knows me well, notice that Jeff wears flip flops in the winter? .... Just sayin'... ;-))
Yesterday afternoon, the kiddies were SO excited for Niklaus, that they could hardly wait to go to bed. They cleaned their rooms faster than I have EVER seen them clean. :-) Love that. Seneca also told me that she had told ALL of her friends at school that Niklaus was coming and that they ALL needed to make sure and put their shoes out. Oh dear. Might be a few parents that have a little explaining to do today. :-) When she told me that, I explained to her that Niklaus only visits German children and those with a very strong German connection...like us. :-)
When my babies put out their shoes, I just about DIED when I saw the note that Seneca had left for Niklaus requesting that she receive Justin Bieber for her boyfriend.
LOL! Oh my heart...she is SIX!!! What the deuce?! LOL! Then, on the inside of the card, she drew a picture of herself WITH Justin Bieber...just in case Niklaus needed a visual. LOL! So funny. NIklaus ended up leaving a note (in addition to the one he usually leaves anyway [always written in German]...to let them know what good little ones they have been) for Seneca, telling her that she is still a little too young for a boyfriend. LOL! When I just talked to Seneca about her note this morning, she DID clarify that she just wants the Justin Bieber DOLL. Phew. I was worried there for a second. Ha ha...so funny. Love her SO much. Also love that Kaden blessed Niklaus in both the prayer over our dinner AND in his bedtime prayers, that he might travel safely to our home. *sigh* Oh my heart...how I love my angel babies!!!
Niklaus brought SO many fun things for the kiddies this year. Both of them were SO excited about their new toys and couldn't wait to open them up and play with them. In addition, they also received a few treats and a cute Santa ornament for the tree. Kaden and Seneca wondered how Niklaus could POSSIBLY know that their favorite treats were cotton candy [for Seneca] and whoppers [for Kaden]. Like I said...Niklaus is seriously on top of things. ;-)
It's hard to believe that another year has already flown by. What fun it is to have so many fun traditions throughout the holidays.....so many fun little things for our babies to look forward to, that make the holiday season seem even more rich and memorable. So grateful for a fun morning with my little ones a a special SHOUT OUT to our many dear friends who are also celebrating around the world today....wir wuenschen Euch eine besondere FROHE NIKLAUS!!!!!!!!
